16oz of heaven. I’m slowly becoming a cider addict.

There’s a cider tasting place near me with over 300 different bottles, and 50 local ciders on tap. Bring/order your own food. No TV’s, but everyone is super friendly and outgoing, which is.... unusual in Seattle. Board games too.

(edit) saved for later tonight. I’ve had good luck with Schilling. Will it continue?

It’s neat that the cider founder is directly related to the Schilling spice founder guy. I’m not a huge cider guy, but that blood orange one they have a super especially during summer.

Did not know that. That is cool. I’ve been eyeing the blood orange... You just confirmed it as the next cider purchase.

On behalf of English people, what?

I tried angry orchard once, it tasted like ass. I’m just imagining what ass tastes like.

I’m now surprised it’s not called ‘Ye olde London, etc...’.

Most cider sold in pubs is Blackthorn, Magners, Strongbow, Westons, Hereford, etc...

Strongbow, the choice of hobos!

Apparently it’s a semi sweet here which is about right for most British ciders I’ve had. Dry here may as well be a fucking Chardonnay, not that that is a bad thing. Seattle cider go basil mint cider is amazing as is their dry and gin botanical. Finnriver solstice saffron cider is fantastic with a curry as cliched as it sounds. Tons of other good ciders in these parts. Whitewood redcap is just amazing.

and Diamond White, Hawkridge, Strongbow, supermarkets own brand stuff, etc...

On my honeymoon many years ago in Paris I found a beer I wanted to try, then right next to it was something similar but with a much higher abv. “Better, right?” I thought. As I drank that beer, my wife and I saw a couple of very organic people drinking the same thing. Was very meady, but in a bad way.

I notice on that map. My city is labelled ‘EARHAND’?

Their ginger is amazing and the rhubarb is pretty awesome as well.

Higher is not necessarily better.

It’s taken a few years to realise that but I know it now. Lol.

Top tip.

The best thing to do when abroad is to be pleasant and ask what the bar person recommends when ask to try a little. Most will give you a small glass to try before you buy a pint.

Yeah, I know better now... At least I think I do. This was at a grocery store, so it was my bad choice/luck. I suffered that night and doubly so the next morning.

Lol.

It’s sad that I now take in factors such as is it still, sparkling, fizzy, chilled, room temperature, abv%, where it’s from, etc...

In my county there is a pub that makes it’s own scrumpy cider. They will only sell it to a local person. Tourists have been hospitalised in the past from alcohol poisoning.

What’s the abv of that one? I try to steer clear of high abv brews anymore. Too much too fast, I’m not getting any younger and liver isn’t getting any smaller.

Please don’t judge all angry orchard by ciders. Imagine if the only beer you ever had was a half coors light/half swamp water concoction. It would be tragic to just assume beer was awful

I’m not sure exactly. Not been for a few years.

I used to go there if I was in the area when I was younger.

But it’s like when I was younger, tourists would go on about how they climbed such-and-such mountain, when I used to walk up them at 2am when I was 12 years old and couldn’t sleep.

Ye’, not getting any younger myself. I need to plan a few days in advance if I’m going out for more than a few drinks so I have two days to recuperate.
